Rostang, The French Brasserie

French, Seafood in Palm Jumeirah
Price: $$$$
From ChowDubai.com:This upscale French brasserie in the Atlantis feels a little like New York favourite Balthazar. It features exemplary service, a bustling atmosphere with funky French music, and broad menu of beautifully prepared dishes.
In keeping with Rostang’s speciality, we picked two seafood dishes to start. The Alaskan King Crab arrived delicately shredded and dressed with a zesty lemon olive oil dressing, all very refreshing. The Crab Cake was lightly fried and generously portioned, sitting on a scrumptious bed of mustard and baby spinach leaves.
As a main we tried the Steak Tartare, which came to the table in its constituent parts and ready to be mixed. Just blend it all together and don’t forget the seasoning. Although it arrived a touch too warm for our liking, the meat was excellent quality and the portion size very liberal indeed.
We went to Rostang for lunch (when several of the other fine-dining Atlantis restaurants are closed). The restaurant wasn’t busy, but had the pleasant background noise of happy families dining together and discreet activity from the attentive staff. The service was very proficient - the waiter took our order without writing it down, and everything turned up in order and on time. A rare experience indeed in Dubai.
On the whole, we were very impressed with Rostang. Head chef Michel Rostang is a holder of two Michelin stars and it shows. If you’re in the Atlantis and feel like a more intimate dining experience than the likes of Nobu or SeaFire, you won’t go too far wrong with Rostang.
