Asian, Thai in Downtown Burj Dubai

From ChowDubai.com:Fans of Thai food are getting increasingly spoiled by Dubai’s offerings, and this is the latest to catch our attention. As you might expect from a series of restaurants that originated in Bangkok, Mango Tree serves exceptional Thai cuisine at reasonable prices.
The interior has a pleasant Asian feel, accented by white orchids, cherry wood and eclectic Asian statues. We sat next to what looked like an antique Asian abacus. Seating is split between small individual tables and a large communal dining table, perfect for Dubai Mall shoppers dropping in for a bite to eat. The quality of the décor is underlined by the leather chairs and heavy cutlery.
Dinner started with some delicious prawn crackers while we inspected the menu. We went for the lunchtime taster menu, an incredible deal that offers (at time of writing) two starters and two main courses each, all for the paltry sum of 85 Dhs. Luckily the portions on the taster menu are small, because we soon had a total of 8 dishes to share between us.
The standout appetizers were the spicy Tom Yum soup, which could have been straight out of Bangkok, and the small but perfectly formed Chicken Satay. Out of our four main courses we especially liked the Nau Phad Grapow, a delicious dish of minced beef, basil and chilli, and a perfectly spiced Green Curry with Chicken.
Mango Tree has a terrace with magnificent views of Burj Dubai and the Burj Fountain, plus a splendid private room, surrounded by wine racks and funky décor, that’s great for private functions. The excellent food is the best reason to visit though, and we’ll definitely be going back.

We had our company party at I can honestly say it was an amazing dining experience considering there were so many of us. The service was friendly and prompt, they served us all at the exact same time which is rare in Dubai for a big group. They really went all out when decorating this restaurant. It’s fabulous!
